CO2, what does that mean?
CO2 is the chemical formula for the molecule carbon dioxide, also known as carbon dioxide, which consists of carbon and oxygen. The gas carbon dioxide is colorless, readily soluble in water, non-flammable, odorless and non-toxic. In addition to nitrogen, oxygen and so-called noble gases, it is a natural component of the air and is one of the most important greenhouse gases.
CO2 makes up a small part of the air with only about 0.038 percent. However, in its function as a greenhouse gas, it has a decisive role in our climate: CO2 absorbs part of the heat given off by the earth into space and radiates it back to the earth. This natural greenhouse effect creates the temperate climate known to us on earth, which allows flora and fauna to flourish.
